• NATIONAL FAMILY HISTORY DAY
  Thanksgiving Day—November 25, 2004—served as the inaugural National Family History Day, the purpose of which is to heighten awareness of the importance of family health history.

  The National Library of Medicine-funded Web site—Public Health Partners—features an easy-to-use “electronic librarian” that can help you find the latest research or evidence-based strategies.

• AMA’S RECOGNITION OF EXCELLENCE IN ELIMINATING HEALTH DISPARITIES
  The American Medical Association's Program on Health Disparities and its Health Disparities Internal Working Group have developed the “Recognition of Excellence in Eliminating Health Disparities” program.

• BONUS PAYMENTS TO MEDICARE BENEFICIARIES
  Beginning January 1, 2005, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will provide 5 percent bonus payments to physicians providing services to Medicare beneficiaries in Physician Scarcity Areas.
