  • MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH BUREAU’S WEB SITE
    MCHCOM.COM is the Maternal and Child Health Bureau's (MCHB) Web site, supporting communication and collaboration between state and federal maternal and child health professionals that serve mothers, families, and children.   • A SHIFT IN U.S. DEMOGRAPHICS
    A report on workforce trends recently released by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services—Changing Demographics: Implications for Physicians, Nurses, and Other Health Workers—predicts that physicians will spend significantly more time treating elderly and minority patients in the coming years.

  • THE IMPACT OF FREE CLINICS
    An article in the February issue of the Journal of Health Care for the Poor and Underserved, “Free Clinics Helping to Patch the Safety Net,” is the first large-scale survey that examines how clinics operate, whom they serve, and their place in the safety net. The survey profiles free clinics in seven Midwestern states.

  • IMMUNIZATION CHART FOR KIDS INCORPORATES NEW FLU VACCINE POLICY
    The American Academy of Family Physicians’ (AAFP) July - December 2004 childhood and adolescent immunization schedule reflects the risk of influenza complications in young children. As such, the schedule was updated to recommend influenza immunization for children 6 months to 23 months old, as well as for those with whom they live and are in regular contact.
