- NATIONAL IMMUNIZATION AWARENESS MONTH
Asking the medical question “Are you up to Date?” the National Partnership for Immunization (NPI)—which encourages greater acceptance and use of immunization for people of all ages through partnerships with public and private organizations—kicks off National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM) on August 1st. The campaign is designed to remind parents, caregivers, health care providers, and others that immunizations are vital for Americans of all ages.

- QUALITY INTERACTIONS
“Quality Interactions: A Patient-Based Approach to Cross-Cultural Care” is a 2-hour, case-based, CME/CEU accredited, e-learning program that outlines how to educate clinicians on cultural competence issues. The underlying emphasis of the program is that clinicians cannot merely learn a set of facts about various groups of people and expect to be culturally competent.

- COMPUTER-BASED RECRUITING
Med Job Louisiana is a non-profit recruitment and retention program designed to assist rural and underserved communities—located in Louisiana Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs)— attract qualified health professionals to improve people’s access to primary care services. Med Job’s computer software program, Job Med, matches health professionals with medically underserved rural communities.

- CAMP HEALTH CARE
National Public Radio recently aired a story about a Milwaukee summer camp with a mission to increase teen interest in health care careers. It's one of many programs that encourage young people to enter the medical workforce and ease the nationwide shortage of qualified health care personnel.
