December 2003

Welcome to the December issue of the NHSCurrent. Every month, the NHSCurrent will help keep you up to date and assist you through your NHSC journey.

Ambassadors
Do you know about the NHSC Ambassador program? NHSC Ambassadors are a dedicated group of faculty members from universities across the U.S. committed to inspire, mentor, and prepare the next generation of primary care clinicians to serve in areas of greatest need. These faculty mentors can make all the difference in your preparation for a career dedicated to those in need. If you aren’t sure whether you have an NHSC Ambassador on your campus, look on the NHSC Web site at: http://nhsc.bhpr.hrsa.gov/ambassadors/ambassadorlist.cfm. If you don’t have an NHSC Ambassador at your school but know someone who might be interested, please contact Michelle Corbin at MCorbin@hrsa.gov. Please provide the person’s name, school, discipline, and contact information.

2004 Placement Conference
The 2004 Annual Scholar Placement Conference will take place from January 29 to February 1, 2004, in Tysons Corner, Virginia. This meeting will present an opportunity for Scholars to interview and meet with NHSC clinicians, as well as representatives from Community Health Centers and state organizations involved in recruiting for eligible sites. Scholars will also be able to meet with NHSC staff and get information about matching and service requirements. For more information, contact BL Seamon & Associates at 301-577-0244, ext. 27, or 1-800-676-8785. Online registration and an agenda is available at http://www.blsmeetings.net/commitmentconference/
