NHSC Publications: 2003 Rolling Practice Selection and Assignment Bulletin for Physician Assistants, Certified Nurse-Midwives and Nurse Practitioners
Welcome to the 2003 Rolling Practice Selection and Assignment phase of your National Health Service Corps (NHSC) commitment. We are pleased that you will soon complete your training program and are here to assist you in selecting your new practice in an underserved community. We share a common goal of assuring access to primary care services, as we move toward elimination of health disparities for all members of our society.
Please review this NHSC 2003 Rolling Practice Selection and Assignment Bulletin which provides you with important information and guidance on fulfilling your service commitment.
All NHSC Scholars must serve their commitment in a federally designated health professional shortage area of greatest shortage. The Approved Practice List of positions for your discipline are listed online in the NHSC Opportunities List. Not all positions on the NHSC Opportunities List are approved practice sites for NHSC Scholars. To identify which opportunities are approved practice sites for the NHSC Scholarship Program, you must select "NHSC Scholar Opportunity" under the "Type of Opportunity" when searching the NHSC Opportunities List. Reminder: the only way to fulfill your Scholarship service commitment is by obtaining employment at one of the NHSC Scholar Opportunities identified for your discipline on the NHSC Opportunities List.
As part of our efforts to stay in touch, you have been provided a RTSC advisor who will assist you in the Practice Selection and Assignment Phase. We believe this direct communication will help make the process more efficient and effective. However, scholars are responsible for finding and matching to their own site during the Practice Selection Phase. Please see the RTSC advisor table to determine your advisor and give him or her a call when you have questions or need information.
Please notify us of any change of address, phone number, or e-mail address (for our Listserv) by submitting the change of address via fax at 1-866-897-7872.
It is important that you provide an up-to-date and professional looking resume so we may share your experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities with the communities who desire your services. If you do not have a current resume on file with us, please send it to the following address:
National Health Service Corps
Recruitment Training and Support Center

You may also fax your resume to 1-866-897-7872 or e-mail it to your RTSC advisor. If you have questions or need further assistance, please contact us directly through the NHSC help line at 1-800-221-9393.
Thank you for your commitment to improving the health of the poorest, least healthy, and most isolated members of our society.

NHSC Clinicians Wrap Rural Community in Good Mental Health
For the last 15 years, Crookston, Minnesota, has had more than its fair share of floods, droughts, and other natural disasters. As a result, the hardy and resilient population of farming families finds itself struggling under the burden of foreclosures, financial crisis, and the resulting emotional, mental, and stress-related problems.
