About the National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program

The National Health Service Corps is a competitive program that recruits fully trained and licensed health professionals to provide primary health services in NHSC community sites in selected Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) identified by the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.

In return, the NHSC LRP assists clinicians in their repayment of qualifying educational loans that are still owed.

If you are selected to participate in the NHSC LRP, you enter into a contract with the U.S. Government. There are serious consequences for breaching this contract. Please read the entire Applicant Information Bulletin carefully before deciding to apply to the NHSC LRP in 2008.

To be eligible, you must be fully trained, licensed and working at (or in the final stages of employment negotiations with) an NHSC-eligible facility on the NHSC Opportunities List.
